Au Pairs are not ordinarily intended to be employees, housekeepers or nannies. Where this is the case, the obligations and duties undertaken by Au Pairs must reflect this intention. Au Pairs may, however, be employed by You, in which case You must offer minimum terms and conditions of employment that comply with Australian employment and taxation laws. This will involve agreeing with the Au Pair hours of work, rates of pay and the specific duties to be performed by the Au Pair during working hours.
